This page is a practical starter policy for an early beta product. It is not legal advice, and you should have counsel review it before a public launch.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email, handle, profile photo, city, and bio.
- Plan information: SideQuest titles, details, activity type, rough location or place, time, circle/friend audience, ride details, capacity, responses, and comments.
- Social information: friends, friend requests, circles, circle members, and invites.
- Device information: push notification tokens, app platform, and basic technical logs.
- Waitlist information: name, email, city, intended use, and signup metadata submitted through the website.
2. How We Use Information
- Provide the app, including profiles, plans, friends, circles, invites, and notifications.
- Show plans to the intended audience.
- Send push notifications about new SideQuests, invites, and responses.
- Prevent abuse, enforce rules, and support moderation.
- Improve product reliability, onboarding, and user experience.
3. Location
SideQuest uses plan-based location information that users enter, such as a place, rough location, or address. SideQuest is not designed as an always-on location tracker.
4. Sharing
Content you post is shared with the audience you choose, such as all friends or a specific circle. We do not sell personal information. We may share information with infrastructure providers that help us run SideQuest, such as hosting, Firebase, authentication, storage, analytics, or notification services.
5. Photos and Media
If you choose a profile or circle photo, the app may request photo library access. We use selected media only to provide the feature you requested.
6. Push Notifications
If you allow notifications, SideQuest stores an Apple push token for your device so the server can send relevant notifications. You can change notification permissions in iOS settings and SideQuest settings.
7. Retention
We keep information as long as needed to provide SideQuest, comply with obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or improve the product. You may request deletion through the app’s account deletion flow.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure.
9. Children
SideQuest is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as SideQuest changes. The updated date will reflect the latest version.
